In
my business and home, working towards sustainable living is a priority. Extensive
policies of reusing and recycling, energy efficiency and the use of alternative
power sources are part of this effort. Professionally, my switch to a digital
camera system has greatly reduced the environmental impact of my photography.
Gone is the use of film, along with it's accompanying packaging and toxic chemical
processing. The media cards used in the camera in place of film are completely
reusable. Using these cards, I have shot over 29 000 images in 3 three years,
roughly the equivalent of 800 rolls of film!
My photography is
now entirely digitally based. Film is available on request, but my standard
policy in to use state of the art Nikon digital equipment for my work. Not
only does this result in extremely high quality images, it also enables me
to provide a location laptop computer for clients to preview images. Using
this computer, I can then send images directly from almost any location to
clients via a wireless cell connection, if required.
